PGC bids farewell to vice principal

Pfutsero Government College (PGC), Pfutsero bade farewell to its vice principal, Medozu Mero on February 10 at the college auditorium. Mero retired from active government service. FLWs and HCWs vaccinated in Kohima, Wokha

A total of 1278 health care workers (HCWs) and 517 frontline workers (FLWs) were vaccinated till date at various session sites under Kohima district. According to DIPR report, district immunization officer, Kohima, Dr. Rupert Peseyie informed that the last date for HCWs vaccination will be on February 20 while mop up will be for five days and last date for FLWs vaccination to get 1st dose will be on March 6, 2021. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Meghalaya on March and would meet political leaders and organizations during the visit, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Wednesday. 40-year-old lynched in Karbi Anglong

A group of villagers in Karbi Anglong lynched a 40-year-old man over an alleged illicit affair on Sunday night.  According to police, the incident took place on Sunday night when the victim Monsing Rongpi resident of Barelong Bey Village under Bakalia police station was seen entering the resident of a woman. Earlier, the villagers have also warned them to discontinue their affair. Transporters demand further reduction in fuel hike in Meghalaya

The agitating Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles (MJACCV) on Tuesday demanded further reduction in petrol and diesel prices from the Conrad Sangma-led government, even as it threatened to further intensify their agitation.    Commercial vehicles, including cabs and buses have been off the road in the State from February 3 demanding a rollback of price hike in petrol and diesel.  Faced with public criticism, the State Government on Sunday reduced the price of petrol and diesel by Rs. 2 per litre. Infant succumbs to COVID in Meghalaya

A one-month-old baby (female) has died of COVID-19 in Meghalaya, taking the total number of fatalities in the state to 148, health officials said. Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the baby was admitted to Ganesh Das Government Maternal and Child Health Hospital on February 5. Both the mother and the baby had tested positive for COVID-19, War said. However, the infant succumbed to the viral infection with febrile convulsion and neonatal seizures on February 7.

Night curfew to continue in Shillong, Aizawl

In a bid to contain spread of coronavirus, officials in Meghalaya said that the night curfew would remain in force in Shillong and other adjoining areas under the East Khasi Hills district for the next seven days from Monday. Besides Shillong, the night curfew is being extended in Mizoram capital Aizawl. Gov directs CS to act against officials for ‘seditious’ remark

Nagaland Governor R.N. Ravi has directed the chief secretary to initiate criminal proceedings against state government employee indulging in “seditious and subversive” writings challenging the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country and posting them on social media platforms, a Deccan Chronicle report stated. Referring to one such instance of a state government official, the commissioner and secretary to Nagaland Governor, T.
