Awareness on road safety

Road Safety Advocacy Programme (RSAP), organised by KipiQomi Welfare Society (KQWS), Thilixu, Dimapur, commenced on February 12 by following the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) guidelines at Thilixu Baptist Church junction Dimapur.  A press release by KQWS stated that at the programme KQWS chairman, Kughaho Khala highlighted the schedule of activity plans and stated that distribution of pamphlets would continue on February 23 at Chekiye gate junction, Purana bazaar Zion hospital on February 26.  He further added that essay competition will be held at Hornbill School Chekiye and painting competition at Government High School Thilixu. BJP introducing laws to suppress dissent: Meghalaya congress

Centre sanctions bridge between Majuli and Jorhat

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned for construction of a major bridge over river Brahmaputra to connect the world’s largest inhabited river island Majuli in Assam amounting to Rs 925 crore. The work has been awarded to M/s UP State Bridge Corporation Ltd, reports The Sentinel Assam. The length of the bridge will be 8 km. The project is estimated to be completed within four years. FLWs and HCWs vaccinated in Kohima, Wokha

A total of 1278 health care workers (HCWs) and 517 frontline workers (FLWs) were vaccinated till date at various session sites under Kohima district. According to DIPR report, district immunization officer, Kohima, Dr. Rupert Peseyie informed that the last date for HCWs vaccination will be on February 20 while mop up will be for five days and last date for FLWs vaccination to get 1st dose will be on March 6, 2021. 40-year-old lynched in Karbi Anglong

A group of villagers in Karbi Anglong lynched a 40-year-old man over an alleged illicit affair on Sunday night.  According to police, the incident took place on Sunday night when the victim Monsing Rongpi resident of Barelong Bey Village under Bakalia police station was seen entering the resident of a woman. Earlier, the villagers have also warned them to discontinue their affair. Transporters demand further reduction in fuel hike in Meghalaya

The agitating Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles (MJACCV) on Tuesday demanded further reduction in petrol and diesel prices from the Conrad Sangma-led government, even as it threatened to further intensify their agitation.    Commercial vehicles, including cabs and buses have been off the road in the State from February 3 demanding a rollback of price hike in petrol and diesel.  Faced with public criticism, the State Government on Sunday reduced the price of petrol and diesel by Rs. 2 per litre.
