Centre Adds More To List Of What Is Allowed After April 20 Amid Lockdown

The government has made new additions to the list of activities that will be allowed amid lockdown in parts of the country that are least affected by coronavirus.Non-banking finance corporations and micro-finance institutions will be marked essential services that can resume. Coconut, spice bamboo, areca nut and cocoa plantations, and forest produce by scheduled tribes have also been added to the list.Construction in rural areas of water supply and sanitation and laying of power lines and telecom optical fibres and cables will also be allowed, according to a notification put out by the home ministry.

A security guard who was accused of infecting a family of 3 with COVID-19 in Delhi's Defence Colony, got tested recently and the reports were found to be negative. The three family members were being treated in Max Hospital, Saket. An elderly man in his 80s died yesterday and his son is on the ventilator. The man's wife has recovered and has been discharged.The family had blamed their security guard, accusing him of visiting the Tablighi Jamaat gathering last month, which emerged as a major virus hotspot linked to cases across the country.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said today that the Delhi has got the Centre's approval to carry out clinical trials of plasma therapy to help critically ill coronavirus patients. The plasma therapy is only for COVID-19 patients who are on ventilator support and seriously ill. Multi-Centre trials were expected to begin for this, after clearance from the Drug Controller of India."Trial of Plasma Enrichment technique will begin in the next three or four days. If successful, we can save the livesof serious COVID-19 patients," Mr. Kejriwal said.

India’s confirmed coronavirus cases cross 900-mark, death toll at 19

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India rose to 918 on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Of them, nine cases are being assigned to states to initiate contact tracing and 47 are foreign nationals. The total number of active cases in the country rose to 819, while 80 patients have been cured and discharged, including one migrated patient. The number of deaths due to the infection stood at 19.
