Sarbananda Sonowal and Lurinjyoti Gogoi submitted nomination paper

Ahead of Lok sabha elections, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi officially filed their nomination papers, on Tuesday. According to the sources, both the leaders have filed their nomination papers for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency. The first phase of the polling for Dibrugarh constituency will be held on April 19. Sarbananda Sonowal was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other top leaders of the state. ECI issues notification regarding counting date

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the schedules for the upcoming Lok sabha election, 2024. A notice issued by ECI has been updated about the changes of counting vote date in northeastern states. The notice said, "There shall be no change in respect of schedule for Parliamentary constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim." According to the sources, the date was previously slated on 4 June but due to the expiry of the two assembly terms on June 2, the EC has decided to bring forward the counting date.
