Remote Sago circle receives vital connectivity through RIDF road project

The remote Sago Circle of Leparada district in Arunachal Pradesh has gained crucial connectivity through a widened quality road project under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). Spearheaded by the proactive efforts of the young MLA of Basar, this initiative aims to enhance accessibility and uplift the lives of the inhabitants residing in five cutoff villages. Sago Circle, nestled within the Basar assembly constituency, is situated approximately 18 kilometers away from the nearest town, Basar. Renowned for its agricultural and horticultural produce including Kiwi, Plum, and various types of apples and oranges, this region holds immense potential for economic growth.

Under the RIDF, a 20-crore project has been sanctioned to widen the road, addressing the longstanding transportation challenges faced by the residents. The project, funded through a NABARD loan, commenced with fervor after the government’s allocation of funds four months ago. M/s D Riba, the winning firm, swiftly embarked on the execution of the project, making significant progress despite the seasonal challenges posed by heavy rainfall. Speaking on the project’s significance, Executive Engineer PWD Basar Division, D Kato, emphasized its critical role as the lifeline of the region. With over 2000 people residing in Sago Circle, the improved road infrastructure is poised to alleviate the villagers’ hardships and facilitate smoother transportation of essential goods, thereby reducing costs associated with high transportation charges.

MLA Gokar Basar, reflecting on his personal connection to the area, underscored the transformative impact of the road project. Recalling his childhood memories of traversing the challenging terrain to reach the villages, he envisioned Sago Circle as a potential tourist destination, boasting attractions such as the mesmerizing waterfall in Hipo village. With the completion of the road project, Basar anticipates the region’s horticultural products gaining prominence in national and international markets, thereby bolstering economic prospects for the local populace. Furthermore, Basar’s proactive approach in advocating for the road project and his establishment of essential administrative infrastructure reflect his commitment to fostering holistic development in the region.
