Retired IAS Arun Goel Appointed Election Commissioner

Retired bureaucrat Arun Goel has been selected as an Election Commissioner ahead of the crucial assembly election in the state of Gujarat. The third post in the country’s top poll body was vacant for around 6 months.

An official notice from the law ministry this evening mentions, “The President is pleased to select Shri Arun Goel, Retired IAS of 1985 batch , Punjab Cadre, as the Election Commissioner in the Election Commission with effect from the date he takes over his duties in the office”.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey in the poll panel will be joined by Arun Goel , a Punjab cadre officer of the 1985 batch.
