49 COVID-19 cases recorded in Ladakh

Ladakh reported 49 new cases of coronavirus, taking the number of COVID-19 cases to 28,513, while 10 patients were discharged from hospitals. According to officials, 228 people have succumbed to Covid-19 in Ladakh. Of these, 168 people died in Leh and 60 in Kargil. Officials said the number of active COVID-19 cases in Ladakh has reached 150 - all in Leh. A total of 589 reported samples were examined in Ladakh. The total number of recoveries stands at 28,138.

CM Eknath Shinde wins vote in Maharashtra

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde won the crucial floor test on the last day of the two-day special session of the state assembly on Monday. In the 288-member House, 164 legislators voted in favor of the confidence motion, while 99 voted against it. New Covid cases in Odisha

Odisha recorded 245 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the toll to 12,90,783. The test positivity rate fell to 1.92 percent from 2.68 the previous day, as cases were detected among 12,748 samples tested. Along with this, the Khurda district of which the capital city Bhubaneswar is a part reported a maximum of 135 new infections and 38 in Cuttack. On Sunday, the state logged 346 fresh COVID-19 cases.

Drugs peddler in UP arrested worth 40 Lakh

On Saturday, a woman was arrested with drugs worth Rs 40 lakh in her possession. “A drug dealer named Sonam was arrested by our team on Friday night near a graveyard in the Dada Pir area. The police team recovered 395 grams of smack from her with an estimated value of Rs 40 lakh,” said Saharanpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Akash Tomar. Woman, daughter killed in road accident in UP

The accident took place in the Kotwali Sahaswan police station area when an allegedly speeding mini-truck rammed the bike from behind, killing Aarti (28) and her five-month-old daughter Pragya on the spot. The woman's husband, brother-in-law and son were seriously injured and admitted to the district hospital. According to Inspector Sanjeev Shukla, the victims were on their way to fetch some medicines when the incident took place near the cold storage located on Kachla Road around 8.30 am. City bus owners campaign for using masks

With the daily rise in COVID-19 cases in West Bengal, the Bus Owners' Association on Saturday said it will launch a campaign among bus staff and passengers to use masks while traveling in passenger vehicles. Secretary of the Joint Council of Bus Syndicate, Tapan Banerjee said in a statement that the association will distribute masks among bus employees near Esplanade Bus Depot on June 26 and request them not to remove the masks.
