Delhi government launches mega plantation drive

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has launched mega plantation drive for 15 days to increase green cover in the Delhil. The 'Van Mahotsav', which started from the Central Ridge, will end on July 25 with the planting of one lakh saplings at the Asala Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. In delhi Saplings and shrubs of around 35 lakh will be planted this year. Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Nivas Goyal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other ministers will participate in the 'Van Mahotsav'.

Ex Punjab MLA surrenders himself in rape case

Lok Insaf Party chief and former MLA Simarjit Singh Bains has surrendered before the court in the rape case. Bain, 52, surrendered in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Horsimranjit Singh. From reports, the two-time MLA is the main accused in the rape case of an old woman of 44 years. On July 16, 2021, the case was registered against Bains with five others, including his 2 brothers, on the orders of a local court. The survivor alleged in her complaint that the former MLA raped her multiple times as she sought his help in a property dispute case.

Most parts of Rajasthan received moderate rainfall and isolated places received heavy rainfall on Monday. Ninewa in Bundi district recorded 13 cm, followed by Dholpur (12 cm) and Laxmangarh in Sikar (10 cm). According to the report, various parts of Sirohi, Banswara, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Churu, Bikaner, and Jhunjhun districts received less than 10 cm of rain during this period.

Ladakh reports fresh COVID-19 cases

Ladakh reported four new Covid infections in a day, taking the total number of cases in the union territory to 28,543. All the new cases were reported from Leh. Also, 6 people have recovered from the disease and been discharged from a hospital in Leh. The total number of covid recoveries is 28,190. As per reports, 228 people have died of COVID-19 in Ladakh, including 168 in Leh and 60 in Kargil, they said. A total of 174 samples were tested for COVID-19 in Ladakh, including 145 in Leh and 25 in Kargil, they said.

196 COVID-19 cases registered in Assam

Assam recorded 196 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 7,25,677. As per reports, 196 coronavirus patients have been detected across the state. The National Health Minister said 74 new cases were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan District comprising Guwahati city, followed by 30 from Kamrup and 20 from Dibrugarh. No deaths due to infection have been recorded in the last 24 hours. Lighting strike kills 3 tribals in Madhya Pradesh

According to reports, three tribals were killed and many others injured after lightning struck a forest area in Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district. The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Ajanoy was going for a picnic near a river in the forest area. While they were busy fishing, there was sudden lightning.
