Teachers and non-teaching staffs can no longer continue their studies while working in provincialised secondary schools without prior permission of the competent authorities. The Assam government has decided to convert madrassas into Middle English (ME) schools which were functioning under the funds of the government. According to the sources, 1,281 madrassas which were located in Lower Assam Region and Barak Valley were converted into general schools of 21 districts of the region, Assam.  A mild blast was reported at an Army Camp of Lichubari in Assam’s Jorhat district and United Liberation Front of Asom (I) has claimed its responsibility for the blast, on Thursday.
