Two government employees were arrested under bribery charges, operation led by the vigilance in Assam. Both the charges are from different departments of the government service. According to the sources, the first operation was laid at the Samaria Revenue Circle in Assam’s Kamrup district and another one at the District Agricultural Officer of Goalpara. The identified official is named Pradip Kalita, Supervisor Kanungo of O/O Circle Officer and the second employee has been identified as Budheswar Das. At least 14 died at Dergaon bus accident, Assam

A bus collided with a truck in Dergaon, Assam which carried 45 passengers, the incident took place on 3 January early hours. According to sources, amongst the 45 passengers, 14 people died and 27 others were injured. The incident took place on the way when the bus was heading towards Tilinga Mandir, Tinsukia where the truck came in contact with the bus. Police reported that the bus passengers were on their way to picnic and were about to reach their destination, a coal-laden truck coming from Margherita collided with the bus.
