Temperature in the city settles to normal

The national capital witnessed a warm morning on Thursday as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 29.5 degrees Celsius, the highest minimum temperature of the month so far, the Met office said. Skies will be clear on Thursday and heat wave may start from Friday. The maximum temperature on Thursday is likely to be around 43 degrees Celsius, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said. The relative humidity was 67 per cent at 8.30 am on Thursday, the Met office said. Back-to-back showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds provided some respite from the intense heat wave.

India was looking at tapping new markets for edible oil imports following the standoff between Ukraine and Russia, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday. According to her, due to the conflict, the country is facing various obstacles in the import of edible oil. "Everyone knows there is a war between Russia and Ukraine. There are various obstacles to importing oil. You know we cannot import edible oil, we were getting sunflower oil. Now, we don't," she said at an event here. New COVID-19 cases in Odisha

Odisha recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the tally to 12,88,222, a health department bulletin said. Another 53 coronavirus patients have died so far due to comorbidities. Odisha now has 114 active cases. The daily positivity rate was 0.08 percent and four of the newly infected persons were children. In total, 14,225 samples were tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

UP men died in cloudburst

A woman and her two sons from Uttar Pradesh were killed in a cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Monday, officials said here. The woman and her two sons - believed to be adults - were working as laborers in a brick kiln at Chandhara in Budgam when the cloudburst occurred, officials said.
