The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The humidity level at 8.30 am was 66 percent. The Met Office has forecast partly cloudy skies during the day with a chance of thundershowers. The highest temperature may settle near 41 degrees Celsius.

India records 3,545 new Covid cases with 27 deaths

India reported 3,545 new Covid infections in a single day taking the number of reported cases to 4,30,94,938 while the number of active cases fell to 19,688, according to a Union Health Ministry update. The death toll rose to 5,24,002 with 27 more deaths. Active cases comprised 0.05 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.74 percent, the health ministry said. According to it, the daily positivity rate was 0.76 percent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.79 percent. The number of people who have recovered from the disease has increased to 4,25,51,248.

Fresh COVID-19 cases in Punjab

Punjab reported 87 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the number of infections to 7,59,832, according to a medical bulletin. No Covid-related deaths have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours, it said. The death toll stands at 17,751. These include three deaths that were not previously reported. Among the fresh cases, Patiala recorded maximum 63 infections, followed by six in Mohali and four in Bathinda. There were 280 active cases in the state, it said.
