COVID-19 cases declined in the country

India reported 2,183 new coronavirus infections taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,30,44,280, while active cases fell to 11,542, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday. A reduction of 16 cases was recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload within 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.83 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.32 percent, according to the ministry. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign have crossed 186.54 crore.

Delhi likely to witness heat wave

The India Meteorological Department on Monday said the national capital may experience heatwave conditions during the day, with the maximum temperature settling around 42 degrees Celsius. "Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana-Delhi, South Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand on 18-19," the IMD said in a bulletin. 216 people arrested in Odisha

At least 216 people have been arrested in different parts of Odisha for drunk driving. Arrests were made and driving licenses of 138 people were suspended during a joint operation by the transport department and the state police.
