Rijiju assures CBI for best lawyers

Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju on Saturday assured the CBI that the department will be provided with services of best lawyers to meet its manpower requirement, officials said."The Minister also assured all help in meeting challenges of manpower including need of lawyers adding that, he would endeavour providing services of best lawyers to the organisation, CBI said in a statement.The minister also said that the ultimate goal of state institutions, including CBI, is to ensure justice to the people.Rijiju presented the Home Minister Medal for Excellence in Investigation' to 52 CBI officers for 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Punjab Assembly seeks immediate action of Chandigarh to state

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann passed a resolution in the state Assembly asking for immediate transfer of Chandigarh to Punjab.Earlier, the House has passed a number of resolutions urging the Central government to transfer Chandigarh to Punjab, he said."For maintaining harmony and taking the sentiments of people into account, this House once again recommends to the state government to raise the matter with Central government to immediately transfer Chandigarh to Punjab, according to the resolution moved by CM Mann in the House.Chandigarh is the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana.

Cong MP wants to restrict guests at marriage function

Congress Lok Sabha member Jasbir Singh Gill on Wednesday asked the government to bring in a law to restrict the number of guests and also the lavish feasts served at marriage functions.Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Gill said that it is necessary to remove the wastage of money during weddings. He stressed that the government should frame a law that should restrict guests to 50 each from the groom's and the bride's side and food items served should not be more than 11.
