Illegal weapons dealer held arms, ammunition seized

An illegal weapon supplier was arrested from a car with four pistols, reports said. An FIR has been registered at Bhondsi Police Station and an investigation has taken up. Sumit, arrested on Thursday, is a resident of Samchana village in Rohtak district, police said.

No fresh COVID-19 cases in Puducherry

The union territory of Puducherry remained coronavirus-free for a ninth day as no fresh infections were reported in the last 24 hours. 278 samples were tested in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Friday and no new cases were detected, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release.The overall case load remained at 1, 65,774 and the recoveries stood at 1, 63,812.The fatality and recovery rates remained 1.8 per cent and 98.82 per cent respectively.The death toll remained 1,962.

Bengal forms committee on National Education Policy

West Bengal government constituted a 10-member committee to examine the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and evaluate the need for a state-level policy on education.The committee will also evaluate steps taken by states such as Maharashtra and Kerala in the education sector after NEP 2020 was unveiled by the Centre. Along with it, the committee would also examine the recent UGC guidelines.

Air India suspends Delhi-Moscow flight

Air India on Thursday cancelled its Delhi-Moscow service over the fear that its flight insurance may not be valid in Russia amid Russian-Ukraine war.Flight insurance is generally provided by companies based out of western countries.Western countries banned all Russian airlines from their airspace after Russia started a war against Ukraine on February 24.However, Air India has been operating Delhi-Moscow flights twice a week. India has not banned Russian airlines from its airspace.

A cheetah was found dead in Jalpaiguri

According to the report, a cheetah was found dead in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Friday morning.It is suspected that the cheetah was hit by a vehicle, they said.The carcass has a deep wound on its head, indicating that it was hit by a vehicle, forest officials said.Further now, the carcass is being sent for post-mortem to assure the cause of its death.

29 COVID-19 cases in Telengana

On Thursday Telangana recorded 29 fresh COVID-19 cases, surging to 7, 91,426. 16,388 samples were tested.No fresh case occurred due to the infectious disease and the toll remained 4,111.A health department bulletin said 32 people retrieved from the infection raising the recoveries to 7, 87,066. The recovery rate stood at 99.44 per cent. The number of active cases was 249. The case fatality rate in the state was 0.51 per cent.

Chinese hackers targeted the power sector in India
