No fresh COVID-19 cases in Puducherry

The union territory of Puducherry remained coronavirus-free for a ninth day as no fresh infections were reported in the last 24 hours. 278 samples were tested in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Friday and no new cases were detected, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release.The overall case load remained at 1, 65,774 and the recoveries stood at 1, 63,812.The fatality and recovery rates remained 1.8 per cent and 98.82 per cent respectively.The death toll remained 1,962.

Bengal forms committee on National Education Policy

West Bengal government constituted a 10-member committee to examine the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and evaluate the need for a state-level policy on education.The committee will also evaluate steps taken by states such as Maharashtra and Kerala in the education sector after NEP 2020 was unveiled by the Centre. Air India on Thursday cancelled its Delhi-Moscow service over the fear that its flight insurance may not be valid in Russia amid Russian-Ukraine war.Flight insurance is generally provided by companies based out of western countries.Western countries banned all Russian airlines from their airspace after Russia started a war against Ukraine on February 24.However, Air India has been operating Delhi-Moscow flights twice a week. India has not banned Russian airlines from its airspace.
