Mishing Community demands holiday for Ali-Ai-Ligang festival

Festival ‘Ali-Ai Ligang’ of Mishing Community is in the corner for its arrival in Assam. The community in Chachal, Guwahati has been protesting for long time in demand of Holiday for the day. The community stated that holidays granted for Bhatri Dutiya and Chhath Puja are celebrated by smaller communities in the state, the Mishing community demands equal recognition for Ali Ai Ligang. Further, the community has also asked for inclusion of the festival in school books for preservation of their cultural heritage for future.

CID investigation on death threat to Assam Minister

Agriculture and Assam Accord Implementation Minister, Atul Bora receives death threat on social media. To reports, CID investigation is underway. Director-General of Police GP Singh on post said, "Reference threat to Hon Minister Sri Atul Bora on a Facebook post, Assam CID has been directed to register a criminal case and take lawful action.” According to the sources, on a facebook page of local news portal, Bora was threatened to be killed. A man named Pranash Sandhilya made the comment, claiming he is part of the ULFA.

Petition to protect ‘Hinduism’ rejected by SC

A plea was filed in the Supreme Court to the Central Government to make guidelines for the protection of Hinduism in the country, India.
