Punjab is the latest state to be told off by the centre for "diluting" coronavirus lockdown guidelines with decisions like designating the sale and servicing of air-conditioners as "essential". The state withdrew its order last evening. The home ministry had also written a sharp letter to Kerala for allowing restaurants, book shops and barber shops to reopen in parts of the state. Punjab had allowed the opening of some activities prohibited in the April 15 order of the home ministry, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said in a letter to the state on Monday, ordering "strict compliance" with central guidelines.

India's new rules for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) violate WTO principles of non-discrimination and are against free and fair trade, China said on Monday, calling for a "revision of discriminatory practices". On Saturday, the government stepped up scrutiny of investments from companies based in neighbouring countries, in what was widely seen as a move to stave off takeovers by Chinese firms during the coronavirus outbreak. The men accused of lynching three men in Palghar have been arrested and are in jail, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said today. The Chief Minister also said he has spoken to Union home minister Amit Shah and assured him that he would look into the case. Health Workers and Policemen Attacked Last Evening in West Bengaluru

54 people have been arrested so far after an incident where a quarantine team of policemen and health workers was allegedly attacked last evening in West Bengaluru by a large mob of about 200 locals. They visited the place as they got information that 58 people down there had came into contact with 3 coronavirus patients and hence needed to be isolated. In videos shot on mobile phones, locals can be seen damaging tents installed for the healthcare workers and policemen.

US President Mr.Trump said that the US has made steady progress in its war against the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease and is still on its way .The United States had tested 4.18-million people. "That's a record anywhere in the world," he said. He also particularly mentioned the name of India along with 9 other countries while comparing the total numbers of tests done. States and Union territories are not allowed to “dilute” guidelines

It has been made clear by the government that states and union territories cannot "dilute" the guidelines given on the nationwide lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus.The center clearly said that no state can allow it's own activities during the lockdown period. In a letter to states and union territories, the Union Home Secretary said that only those activities permitted by the centre would be allowed from today in some parts of the country which are least affected by coronavirus.The states can take stricter actions if they want, the centre said.

Cops Order “Cave-Dwelling” Foreign Tourists Into Quarantine In Rishikesh

Six foreign tourists who tried to sit out the coronavirus pandemic in a cave have been sent to quarantine at an ashram near Rishikesh, a town where the Beatles also stayed after running out of money.The four men and two women - from France, the United States, Ukraine, Turkey and Nepal - had been living in a cave near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand state since March 24, police inspector Rajendra Singh Kathait told AFP.They have now been moved to Swarg Ashram, where they will be quarantined for 14 days - although none have shown coronavirus symptoms.
