The men accused of lynching three men in Palghar have been arrested and are in jail, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said today. The Chief Minister also said he has spoken to Union home minister Amit Shah and assured him that he would look into the case. More than 100 people were taken into custody after the horrific attack on Thursday night at a spot barely 125 km from the country's financial capital Mumbai.

54 people have been arrested so far after an incident where a quarantine team of policemen and health workers was allegedly attacked last evening in West Bengaluru by a large mob of about 200 locals. They visited the place as they got information that 58 people down there had came into contact with 3 coronavirus patients and hence needed to be isolated. In videos shot on mobile phones, locals can be seen damaging tents installed for the healthcare workers and policemen.

US President Mr.Trump said that the US has made steady progress in its war against the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease and is still on its way .The United States had tested 4.18-million people. "That's a record anywhere in the world," he said. He also particularly mentioned the name of India along with 9 other countries while comparing the total numbers of tests done. "We have done more testing than all of these countries combined -- France, United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, India, Austria, Australia, Sweden and Canada," Mr Trump told reporters at a news conference in the White House.

States and Union territories are not allowed to “dilute” guidelines

It has been made clear by the government that states and union territories cannot "dilute" the guidelines given on the nationwide lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus.The center clearly said that no state can allow it's own activities during the lockdown period. In a letter to states and union territories, the Union Home Secretary said that only those activities permitted by the centre would be allowed from today in some parts of the country which are least affected by coronavirus.The states can take stricter actions if they want, the centre said.
