Training program initiated for 5,000 farmers, Assam

Across Sonitpur district, the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation (APART) Project has started two-month training program for 5,000 farmers to boost agribusiness and rural transformation in the state, Assam. The initiative was inaugurated ceremonially at the No 2 Barchala-Chitalmari area in Sonitpur. The aim of the program is to create awareness among farmers about various agricultural schemes, including the PM-Kisan, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), and Paddy procurement. During the initiative program government officials and business institution have given their attendance.

1 death and four injured in an accident

An accident takes life of a student from Dibrugarh University, Assam, occurred at Jamugurighat in Sonitpur district. The deceased is identified as Luku Sharma, a student from Dibrugarh University, Assam. According to the reports, the accident took place when a Maruti Suzuki Swift car, traveling at high speed, collided with a dumper truck from behind. As a result, Luku Sharma lost his life. Also in the accident four others have been injured and are taken to nearby hospital immediately.

Hike in LPG cylinders brings challenges for minors in the state

14.2 kg LPG cylinder has become a challenge for Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries of Assam. The beneficiaries are not able to afford the cylinders as they are large and costs’ high. Instead of large cylinders, IOCL has decided to provide two 5 kg LPG cylinders as a refill package to the PMUY beneficiaries in Assam. Assam Oil Division (AOD) shared updates of the taken initiative that about 25% of beneficiaries have not applied for refills due to various reasons. Congress protest against EC draft delimitation

On Friday, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge raised strong objection against the delimitation exercise being carried out in Assam. Arms deposited Adivasi insurgents outfit, Assam

On Thursday, eight Adivasi insurgents outfit from Assam has laid down arms in Assam and signed a peace agreement with the central and Assam Government. The outfits deposited their arms to the chief minister at a ceremony organized by the home department Guwahati. According to sources, altogether 1182 cadres have formally deposited their arms to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati.

Higher secondary secured students to be provided scooters

On Wednesday, during a cabinet meeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced of providing scooters and bicycles to those students who concluded Higher Secondary Examination. According to the sources, girl students who secured 60% and above and to boys who got 75% and above will be provided scooters, Govt of Assam has approved the policy. Also the cabinet also approved ₹167 crore for the distribution of bicycles among 3.78 lakh students of Class 9, studying in government and provincialised schools.

Rape case; 2 accused arrested, Assam

In Assam, Hailakandi district two school girls were gang raped in which one of the girl’s lives came to an end. The girl was critically injured while taking to the hospital she stopped breathing. According to the reports, the two students around 11 am on Tuesday were kidnapped and both were taken to a jungle where they allegedly raped them. Further, two of them are arrested and identified as Javed Ahmed Barbhuiya and Ansar Uddin. Dengu 300 cases reported in Assam

Dengue hits Assam again, 300 cases reported so far. There is a surge of dengue cases this early year with affected and deaths toll numbers. The dengue cases were earlier reported between October and December; the source said this year dengue started taking a toll in several districts from June, even before the onset of monsoon. Along with it, two Japanese Encephalitis (JE) deaths have also been reported. The two JE deaths have been reported from Dhemaji and Lakhimpur. So far 42 cases have been reported all together.
