On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced 3-4 per cent of state government jobs will be reserved for the tea community members. Again drugs smuggling seized in Assam

On Friday, Assam Police seized narcotics worth at least Rs 25 crore in the international market. Police also arrested five persons on charges of drugs peddling. The five arrested persons were identified as Talab Hussain, Tahir Ahmed and Khalid Hussain, residents of Patharkandi in Assam and Nitai Sarkar and Nitu Sarka from Tripura. Earlier, Police was informed about drugs was being peddled through the Karimganj district. Acting on the information, a team from Karimganj police was deployed in the Bazarichera area. Soon the team arrested the drugs peddlers and seized their vehicle too.

The Assam Rifles has moved additional troops to secure a bridge on a national highway in south Manipur in the district of the violence-hit state. As per reports, Meitei insurgent groups who were planning to damage the bridge at Sinzawl on NH102 B, which connects Manipur with neighboring Mizoram. Since the day of the violence, May 3 more than 100 people have been killed and more than 50,000 people from both Kuki and Meitei communities have been displaced.

On Tuesday, Election Commission has released its draft proposal for delimitation in Assam resulting in increased of seats. As per reports, seats increased and reserved for Scheduled Castes from eight to nine and for Scheduled Tribes from 16 to 19. Additionally, the delimitation was carried out on the basis of the 2001 Census, the first such exercise in Assam since 1976. Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd (NUPPL) and Assam Government have recently inked a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) a step towards development for the state, Assam. According to sources, the agreement is signed to ensure a steady and reliable power supply of 492 megawatts MW to the state of Assam from the NUPPL's Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant. 142 villages under water, nearly 33,500 affected, Assam

On Monday, flood condition in Assam increases affecting more villages in number than before including villages, towns and farmlands. According to the sources, the India Meteorological Department has issued a 'Red Alert' and predicted 'very heavy' to 'extremely heavy' rainfall across several districts of Assam till Thursday. Due to continuous rain more than 33,500 people are affected in Cachar, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hojai, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri districts. Also, 142 villages are under water and 1,510.98 hectares of crop areas have been damaged across Assam so far.

Assam situation continuously getting worsen due to continuous rain as Monsoon hits the state. So far 11 districts are affected in state, Assam. According to reports, 34,000 people in the state are affected due to flood.  Bishwanath, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Tamulpur and Udalguri are among the affected districts.
