Another Congress leader expected to join BJP Party in Assam

Congress leader Rana Goswami has tendered his resignation from his post as an organisational in-charge of Upper Assam. The leader is expected to resign from the party, Congress and join the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP). Congress prominent figure Rana Goswami was in charge of the districts of Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, and Biswanath Chariali. He tendered his resignation to Assam Congress In-Charge Jitendra Singh and State Congress President Bhupen Bora. Further, Rana considering the rumours clarified that he has neither departed nor joined any other party.

Climate change effects biodiversity of KNP, Assam

To understand the effects of climate change on biodiversity loss in Kaziranga National Park (KNP), Indian researchers have explored how pollen and non-pollen palynomorphs (NPPs) can help in the region. Kaziranga National Park is a corridor for immigration of members of the Indo-Malayan fauna into the Indian sub-region, which is a critical reserve for tropical species, having served as a gene reservoir for taxa during glacial periods. The study will help both public and wildlife management agencies to understand flora and fauna from the changing climate issues.

Assam Education Minister questioned regarding the ongoing issues

Ahead of the Assam Assembly, two opposition MLAs were suspended for going against the rules, on Friday. According to the sources, Congress Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed both were suspended for not listening to the speaker and raising accusations regarding the Education department. However, Speaker Biswajit Daimary repeatedly asked the opposition member to sit down as the Education minister Pegu already replied to the accusations.

Testing of water network to be conducted within the city, Guwahati

The Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) issued an alert that water leakages may take place within the city. According to reports, GJB is going to commence flushing and testing of the distribution network in the city. The notice said, “During the trial run, leakages of water may occur at a few locations, which shall be rectified by our team immediately. All concerned are kindly requested to cooperate with us during the said exercise." Father-in-law kills daughter, accused arrested

A man from Nagaon, Assam killed his daughter-in-law and also injured her daughter on Thursday night. According to the sources, the accused is identified as Muruli Tani. Also, the injured was rushed to the hospital by the police in Guwahati. Additionally, the incident took place while the husband was out for work. Further, the reason behind the incident is not yet ascertained by the police.

All five projects for Assam approved by NBWL

For development of Assam's infrastructure, five project was presented for Kaziranga. As per sources, the five projects were recently approved by the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL). Assam govt new project begins in the city, Guwahati

The Public Works Department (PWD) has announced the temporary closure of a section of MG Road at Bhoothnath and Machkhowa in Guwahati, Assam. The notification was issued due to the ongoing construction of the new flyover connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati over the Brahmaputra River. Following the statement, Guwahati Traffic Police are advised to consider alternative routers for the people of the city till the construction gets completed.

HSLC candidate life ended, Assam

A girl lost her life during the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination, the incident unfolded in Assam's Darrang district. According to the sources, the student fainted on her first day of the exam which was from 16 February. The candidate was taken immediately to the hospital and was under treatment for three days, she passed away on Sunday night. Also, the cause of her death is still unknown. she was a student at Sipajhar B.J. Girls' High School.

A youth tries to kidnap a woman in Assam

A youth from Assam, hailing from Guwahati tried to abduct a woman forcefully near the GS road area while she was back from her work. According to the sources, the accused with three other of his friends tried to abduct the woman forcefully but failed as people present in the area rescued her. Later, the accused with his four-wheelers tried to run over the victim and her friend, injuring both of them. Further, both the victims were rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). However, police have nabbed the accused one and are under investigation.
