Amit Shah praised all the Padma awards winners

On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma awards, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised all the "exceptional individuals" who were honoured. "We extend our congratulations to the deserving recipients of today's Padma Awards. Mr. Narendra Modi Ji has transformed the Padma Awards into evidence of what the human spirit and a steely will are capable of. May the inspiration from their triumphs over adversity spread to all," tweeted Shah. Later in the evening, the home minister also hosted a supper for the recipients.

Pakistan's anti-corruption watchdog has launched a probe against the brother of former ISI chief Lt Gen Faiz Hamid for alleged misuse of power and corruption, it emerged on Wednesday. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab is investigating allegations that Najaf Hamid, brother of the powerful ex-spy master of the country, used influence to get undue career promotion and accumulated assets beyond means, a letter written by the regional directorate of the anti-graft body said.

Maha ATS apprehends suspect in Kerala train fire; he ‘admitted’ involvement, according to official

An official reported that the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad has detained a 27-year-old man in connection with the Kerala express train fire that claimed the lives of three persons on Wednesday. The official stated that the suspect had "confessed" to being involved in the fire. The suspect, named as Shahrukh Saifi, was apprehended at Ratnagiri train station in Maharashtra as a result of a combined operation by troops from the anti-terrorism squad and central intelligence, he claimed.

Rupee wins 42 paise in comparison to the dollar

On Wednesday, the rupee strengthened against the US dollar by 42 paise to close at 81.90 as strong buying in domestic shares boosted investor confidence. Additionally, forex dealers noted that the domestic currency was supported by inflows of foreign capital and an increase in risk appetite. The local currency at the interbank foreign exchange market started the day off well at 82.08 versus the dollar and reached an intraday high of 81.90 and a low of 82.20.

Assam’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF) Mahendra Kumar Yadav has been removed as Chief Wildlife Warden (CWLW). Further a notification was issued that Sandeep Kumar, principal chief conservator of forests (Wildlife and Bio-diversity) cum project director, Assam project on forest and biodiversity conservation society will hold the charge of chief wildlife warden (CWLW) with immediate effect.
