On Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma inaugurated the Rs. 1220.21 crore project to transform the Dhemaji district from flood-prone areas. Sixteen Army soldiers died and four others were wounded after their vehicle slided down a steep slope close to North Sikkim on Friday. The vehicle was part of a three-vehicle convoy that was driving from Chatten in the morning towards Thangu. On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with the stake holders of tea workers’ organization to revamp ways for Assam Tea Corporation (ATC). According to the sources, it is decided that ATC may lease out some of its tea gardens in the wake of difficulties in managing such assets. Also if the parties that would take control over of the management of tea gardens fail to disburse dues or other entitlement of the workers TC will have the right to take over the management. Covid1-19 may rise again, Assam urgent meeting

On Thursday, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta called an emergency meeting due to the rise in Covid-19 infections in China. Mahanta said there are plans to monitor passengers coming from outside the state. Also, precautions should be taken in advance for emerging situations. Jail provision for violation to be removed in Assam

On Tuesday, Labour welfare minister Sanjay Kishan tabled 10 amendment bills. Proposal was to decriminalize all the labour laws of the state by replacing the existing criminal penal provisions of imprisonment with civil penalties through hefty fines.
