This winter different scenes of the season unfolded in Northeast, Assam. Videos and pictures were shared in social media how hailstorm lashed Assam's Dibrugarh district on Tuesday. Dibrugarh streets were seen covered with chunks of frozen rain turning the city almost completely white. The Met department said the district's minimum temperature was recorded at 12.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday while the maximum will settle at 26 degrees Celsius during the day. A leopard was seen in Assam attacked 13 people

On Monday, a leopard was found moving freely around the campus of Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI) in Jorhat, Assam. Many Videos and pictures are shared on social media of the leopard. According to the sources, the leopard injured 13 people including three forest personnel and 10 residents of Chenijan area. Residents informed the forest official. Forest personnel made several attempts to tranquilise the leopard but the big cat is still at large and efforts are underway to track the animal. The injured people were admitted to the hospital and they are stable.

Sarbananda Sonowal’s alma meter golden jublee celebration

On Saturday, Dibrugarh Bindhakata High School celebrated golden jubilee which is alma mater of Union Minister and former CM Sarbananda Sonowal. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also attended the celebration. During the event CM Himanta Biswa inaugurated some project for better improvement of the district. The CM inaugurated the institution's extended infrastructure which was built at a cost of Rs 3 crore. He also naugurated a 3.5KV gridless solar power production centre on the campus and laid the foundation stones for the gateway, concrete drainage system, among others.

The state education department’s yearly evaluation programme “Gunotsav” is celebrated to award the best performing schools in Assam. Earlier, total of 4,841 schools managed to secure A+ grade in the last Gunotsav evaluation. Each of these schools have been awarded a cash incentive of Rs 25,000. 16 Army soldiers died, 4 injured in road accident in Sikkim

Sixteen Army soldiers died and four others were wounded after their vehicle slided down a steep slope close to North Sikkim on Friday. The vehicle was part of a three-vehicle convoy that was driving from Chatten in the morning towards Thangu. Enroute at Zema, the bus came across with an accident. “A rescue plan was instantly arranged, and 4 wounded soldiers have been air evacuated. Assam Chief Minister Discussion on ATC gardens

On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with the stake holders of tea workers’ organization to revamp ways for Assam Tea Corporation (ATC). According to the sources, it is decided that ATC may lease out some of its tea gardens in the wake of difficulties in managing such assets. Also if the parties that would take control over of the management of tea gardens fail to disburse dues or other entitlement of the workers TC will have the right to take over the management. Along with it, three-member committee will be constituted to safeguard the structure.
