Social Worker from Malda, Kamali Soren, receiving Padma Shri

The central government is going to award Padma Shri to Kamali Saran (50) of Gazol block, Malda district. It is learned that this award is being given to her for the social work she was doing in the area. Kamali Devi is happy to receive the award. She said that this award will give her more encouragement in the coming days towards her work.

The whole area is inhabited by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. There is an ashram of Kamali Devi in ​​this village. There are temples of various gods and goddesses. She has been doing various kinds of social work centering on this ashram. Kamali is an active member of the ‘Banavasi Kalyan Ashram’, a tribal organization of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).  She works to bring back the indigenous Christians and Muslims by converting them back to Hinduism. Kamali Soren has already brought 20 people back to the religion they previously belonged to across the state.
