A suspected overground worker (OGW) linked to the banned insurgent outfit NSCN(K) was apprehended during a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police in Bordumsa in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on October 12.
The operation was conducted by the 20 Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police in the Magantong area of Bordumsa following intelligence inputs about the movement and activities of individuals suspected of having links with the insurgent group.
The apprehended individual has been identified as Wangphan Hakhun, son of Phangwang Hakhun, a resident of Rajangar-II village under Bordumsa Police Station in Changlang district.
According to preliminary interrogation findings, Hakhun is suspected of collecting and transferring extortion money on behalf of members of the banned outfit and providing logistical support to its cadres.
During questioning, Hakhun reportedly disclosed that he had been involved in collecting extortion money for SS Captain David Lowang, identified as the outfit’s revenue in-charge for Changlang district, and SS Captain Phuaney Hakhun.

Security personnel carried out the operation based on intelligence inputs regarding suspected activities linked to NSCN(K) in the area. The joint action forms part of efforts by security forces and the state police to identify and apprehend individuals suspected of supporting insurgent networks.
Following his apprehension, Hakhun was handed over to Bordumsa Police Station for further legal action and investigation.
The police are expected to investigate the allegations, including the suspected collection and transfer of extortion money and the alleged provision of logistical support to the outfit’s cadres.
