Tata Motors clocks 28% jump in CV sales in April on strong cargo, truck demand

Tata Motors Limited reported a 28 per cent year-on-year growth in commercial vehicle sales in April 2026, with total domestic and international sales rising to 34,833 units from 27,221 units in April 2025, reflecting strong demand across cargo, truck and passenger carrier segments.

The company said domestic sales grew 27.9 per cent to 32,965 units during the month, while international business sales increased 28.2 per cent to 1,868 units. Sales of heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks rose 23.4 per cent to 8,969 units, while ILMCV truck sales climbed 16.5 per cent to 5,454 units. Passenger carrier sales stood at 5,743 units, up 22.6 per cent from the previous year. The SCV cargo and pickup segment registered the sharpest growth of 40.2 per cent, with sales touching 12,799 units in April 2026.

Domestic sales of MH&ICV stood at 14,565 units in April 2026 compared to 12,093 units in the same month last year. Combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales rose to 15,403 units from 12,760 units a year ago.

In Kolkata, demand for small cargo vehicles and pickup trucks has remained strong due to growing logistics activity, infrastructure projects and rising goods movement across eastern and northeastern India, benefiting commercial vehicle makers.
