Tata Motors showcased its widest-ever commercial vehicle portfolio at an event in Cape Town underlining its focus on next-generation mobility solutions and expansion across international markets, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa. The company displayed 11 commercial vehicles spanning multiple segments and powertrain technologies, including electric vehicles, pickups, trucks and passenger buses. The line-up included the all-new Ultra Prime RE rear-engine intra-city bus and the Azura 1918 intermediate and light-duty truck range developed for urban and regional haulage operations. Tata Motors also showcased electric models such as Ace Pro EV, Intra EV, Ultra E.9 and Prima E28.K aimed at sustainable logistics, mining and construction applications.
Asif Shamim, Head-International Business, Tata Motors Ltd., said the portfolio reflects the company’s strategy of building “application-led mobility solutions” tailored for varied operating conditions and customer requirements. He said Tata Motors continues to focus on productivity, uptime and lower total cost of ownership through advanced engineering and durable products.
The company currently operates across 29 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and has sold over 3.4 lakh commercial vehicles in the region. It offers more than 60 models supported by over 320 service touchpoints and seven assembly operations across Africa, including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt.
In Kolkata, transport operators and fleet owners are increasingly watching Tata Motors’ electric and light commercial vehicle portfolio amid rising demand for efficient urban cargo mobility. Products such as the Intra EV and Ultra E.9 could find growing opportunities in the Kolkata market due to the expansion of e-commerce deliveries, last-mile logistics and demand for lower operating costs in city transport networks.
