TCS opens registrations for 27th Rural IT Quiz, expanding technology talent pipeline beyond metros

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Department of Electronics, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, have announced registrations for the 27th edition of the TCS Rural IT Quiz, continuing a programme aimed at strengthening technology awareness and identifying young talent across India’s smaller towns and districts.

The 2026 edition, an integral part of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2026, will feature online tests, virtual quiz rounds and in-person competitions for students of Classes 8 to 12. Schools within city corporation limits will not be eligible. The quiz will cover artificial intelligence, cloud computing, business, emerging technology trends and IT applications across banking, education, entertainment, robotics, media, sports, gaming and social networking.

Eight regional finals will lead to the national finals in Bengaluru in November 2026. Regional winners and runners-up will receive gift vouchers worth Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000, respectively, while national winners will receive TCS education scholarships of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000.

Registrations close on September 30. Recognised by the Limca Book of Records as India’s first IT quiz for rural students, the programme has reached over 22.4 million students since 2000. The previous edition attracted more than 5.62 lakh participants from 28 states and two Union Territories.
