Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited (BSE: 543412 | NSE: STARHEALTH), India’s leading standalone health insurer, has strengthened access to free primary healthcare in West Bengal through its CSR initiative, Arogya Seva Kendra. The company currently operates two Arogya Seva Kendras in the state, located in Asansol and Siliguri, providing communities with free doctor consultations, basic diagnostic tests, medicines, health screenings and preventive healthcare support. The Asansol centre has recorded 6,805 beneficiary visits across 194 clinic days, averaging around 35 visits per day. The centre has conducted 2,625 laboratory tests, provided 6,613 pharmacy services, screened 1,894 beneficiaries for diabetes and 4,489 for hypertension, and administered 91 pneumococcal vaccines. The Siliguri centre has supported 4,697 beneficiary visits across 201 clinic days, averaging around 23 visits per day. It has conducted 1,960 laboratory tests, provided 4,566 pharmacy services, screened 1,391 beneficiaries for diabetes and 3,517 for hypertension, and administered 36 pneumococcal vaccines. Across the two centres, 8,006 beneficiaries have been screened for hypertension and 3,285 for diabetes, reflecting the importance of accessible neighbourhood-level screening and primary healthcare support.
The centres have also provided 11,179 pharmacy services and 127 pneumococcal vaccinations, helping communities access medicines, preventive care and follow-up support closer to home. As part of Star Health’s CSR efforts, the Arogya Seva Kendra programme aims to reduce barriers to basic care and encourage timely medical intervention. The Arogya Seva Kendras in West Bengal have been established as part of Star Health’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme in partnership with Piramal Swasthya, a part of the Piramal Foundation.
