‘Theft’ at Partha Chatterjee’s daughter’s house in Baruipur

The miscreants allegedly entered a sprawling Baruipur bungalow on Wednesday night and took away some substances in a quality bag. While leaving, the boys pass behind a fuel cylinder in front of the main entrance of the locked bungalow.

Caretaker Abu Taher Sardar – who is also the functionary of Baruipur Zilla Parishad – said the property belonged to Sohini Chatterjee, daughter of former education minister Partha Chatterjee, who lives in the US. Located in Puri, Begumpur under Tentulia Gram Panchayat, the bungalow bears the nameplate “Sohini”.

Jamal Ali Mollah, who is opposite the bungalow, said that on Wednesday night, three-four miscreants came here in a car. “I woke up at 1.30 am to the sound of an automobile and went out. I noticed three to four people scaling the boundary wall. They abused me and told me to go back to my house,” Mollah said.

However, Sardar claims that there is no clue of the incident. He said, if I knew, I would have informed the owner. Sardar said that Parth and his wife used to come to this area a few years ago.

Baruipur police team reached the spot but did not enter the property. They carry petrol cylinders.
CPM chief Sujan Chakraborty has refused to buy into the “theft episode”. “There should be a move through grassroots leaders to get rid of criminal files before the ED gets there. The government should find the culprits,” he said.
