Tripura Showcases Investment Potential at Business Conclave, Scindia Hails State as Gateway to Southeast Asia

The two-day Destination Tripura Business Conclave began on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the state’s journey towards becoming an emerging business and investment hub of Northeast India.

Addressing the inaugural session, Chief Minister Manik Saha said Tripura is one of the fastest-growing states in the country.

He said the time is ripe for private investors to tap the state’s immense potential and take advantage of its robust infrastructure.

The Chief Minister informed that while the government had initially expected around 500 business delegates, the response has far exceeded expectations, with nearly 1,200 business leaders, promoters and entrepreneurs participating in the conclave.

Saha said Tripura’s abundant natural resources, all-weather connectivity and business-friendly policies make it an attractive investment destination.

He said that the state government’s guiding principles are “One Business, One Licence,” “Ease of Doing Business” as its promise, and “Ease of Living” as its ultimate goal.

The Chief Minister also said that, on the sidelines of the conclave, the state government will hold discussions with the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, M. Riaz Hamidullah.

Virtually addressing the conclave from New Delhi, Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia described Tripura as a unique state with strategic access to Southeast Asia, abundant natural resources, a skilled workforce and progressive governance under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha.

He said Tripura stands at the intersection of connectivity, commerce and opportunity.
Highlighting the state’s economic progress, Mr. Scindia said Tripura’s Gross State Domestic Product has nearly doubled to around Rs 90,000 crore.

He noted that the state is India’s largest producer of bamboo and the second-largest producer of natural rubber, offering immense export potential.

Ambassadors from the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Lao PDR and Timor-Leste, along with senior government officials from Japan and Chile, are also participating in the conclave.
