Tripura’s Child Care Institutions Can Be a Model for Other States, Says Union Minister Annapurna Devi

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, on Monday lauded Tripura’s model of Child Care Institutes (CCIs), saying that the state’s CCI model can serve as a template for other states to emulate.
On the second day of her three-day visit to Tripura, the Union Minister visited the Saksham Anganwadi Centre, a Child Care Institution and the newly constructed Working Women Hostel at Abhoynagar in Agartala.
She interacted with children at the Anganwadi Centre and the Child Care Institution, reviewed the facilities, planted a sapling on the institution premises.
Speaking to the media the minister said, the environment created in Tripura for the safety, care, education and overall development of children was exemplary and should be replicated by other states. She also said she would take up the matter at the central level to encourage wider adoption of the model.
Later, the Union Minister addressed a media conference after reviewing the works of Social Welfare and Social Education Department with Minister Tinku Roy.
She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards the vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and appreciated Tripura for effectively implementing Central welfare schemes, adding that the state’s best practices would be shared with other states.
The Minister said the Centre is committed to achieving the vision of a Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat. She informed that an officer has been deputed in every Gram Panchayat to monitor child marriage-related issues.
She also noted that more young girls are now coming forward to report cases of child marriage, calling it an encouraging sign of increasing awareness.
Earlier in the day, the Union Minister offered prayers at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur before visiting the One Stop Centre there, where she reviewed the facilities and interacted with officials.
