Two wild elephants were seen straggling in Salugara market of Siliguri

Siliguri, July 04: In an unusual sight, two wild elephants were seen roaming on Salugara market road in Siliguri around 1 am on Wednesday night. The elephants came out of the forest and roamed around in the market area, drawing a crowd of onlookers. Fortunately, the elephants did not cause any trouble or harm to anyone before returning to the forest.

Salugara forest department was immediately alerted and a team was sent to the spot. According to forest department sources, elephants often move into residential areas in search of food or because they get lost in the forest. To prevent any possible incident, the Forest Department team is keeping a vigil from night till morning to monitor the movements of elephants.
