The Miao-Vijaynagar (MV) road has remained blocked at several points since May 30, leaving the remote Vijaynagar area in Changlang district disconnected from the rest of Arunachal Pradesh. According to reports, the worst-affected stretch lies between Yachejolo village (85 miles) and Gandhigram, where heavy rainfall and landslides have caused parts of the road to collapse.
Restoration work by the district administration has reached up to Miphoto village (82–83 miles). Meanwhile, local residents have also stepped in, clearing roadblocks through community service. Images and videos showing their efforts have circulated on social media. However, locals claim the government’s repair work is progressing too slowly.
A resident said that while locals recently cleared one blocked section, the road remains inaccessible in multiple areas. People, especially women, children, and medical patients, are struggling due to the need to walk long distances under difficult conditions.
Deputy Commissioner Vishal Shah stated that restoration began on the first day of the disruption, with heavy equipment being used. Though one major block has been cleared, two remain and are expected to be reopened soon.
