What began as a sustainability message has turned into a record-breaking demonstration of collective action, with 66,928 doctors and healthcare practitioners from across India helping Himalaya Wellness Company secure a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title.
Launched on Doctors’ Day on July 1, the month-long initiative saw healthcare professionals submit photographs holding signs with the message “United for Wellness, United for a Greener Tomorrow”. The participation surpassed the previous record of 53,201 for “The Largest Online Photo Album of People Holding a Sign”. Every entry was reviewed and verified under GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ guidelines.
For Himalaya, the achievement carries significance beyond the record. CFO and COO Jayashree Ullal said it reflects the company’s “Care for Life” philosophy, encompassing people, the planet and partnerships built over 97 years. Business Director–Healthcare Vikas Bansi said the campaign brought India’s medical community together around a shared vision of a healthier future.
Director–BabyCare Chakravarthi N.V. credited the participating doctors and Himalaya’s field force for making the milestone possible.
The initiative forms part of the company’s wider environmental commitment. Himalaya aims to plant at least five million trees by 2030 and has already planted more than two million trees across ecologically significant regions. It also works with NGOs, communities and farmers on biodiversity conservation, sustainable herb cultivation, vermicomposting and beekeeping.
The campaign comes as climate change increasingly affects public health, with the WHO estimating 3.6 billion people live in areas highly vulnerable to climate change.
