Australia has suspend passenger flights from India until May 15 due to the covid-19 increase

Australia has suspended all flights connecting it to India due to the country’s oversight of the Covid-19 case. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said all direct passenger flights from India will be suspended until May 15, according to news agency ANI.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet National Security Committee to consider what equipment and assistance could be sent, as well as steps to temporarily restrict flights from India. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the flight suspension is expected to affect direct flights to Sydney and two repatriation flights to reach Darwin.

According to the report, there are about 9,000 Australians in India who have registered with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to seek repatriation.
