Night curfew to continue in Shillong, Aizawl

In a bid to contain spread of coronavirus, officials in Meghalaya said that the night curfew would remain in force in Shillong and other adjoining areas under the East Khasi Hills district for the next seven days from Monday. Besides Shillong, the night curfew is being extended in Mizoram capital Aizawl. East Khasi Hills’ District Magistrate Isawanda Laloo issued a notification extending the curfew in Shillong, which is also the district headquarters, until February 14. Nagaland Governor R.N. Ravi has directed the chief secretary to initiate criminal proceedings against state government employee indulging in “seditious and subversive” writings challenging the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country and posting them on social media platforms, a Deccan Chronicle report stated. Vikehie Welfare Society (VWS) Viswema under the aegis of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India had started conducting road safety advocacy programme near Viswema village, Kohima on National Highway (NH-2) from February 6.
