The Orissa High Court has directed the state government to consider deploying heavy-duty machinery or elephants to pull the chariots during Rath Yatra in Puri later this month so as to prevent the gathering of hundreds of people during the Covid-19 pandemic. After Maharashtra, which has reported over one lakh coronavirus cases till date, Tamil Nadu is the second worst-hit state in the country with its Covid-19 tally crossing the 50,000-mark on Thursday. GUWAHATI: A girl hailing from Assam died due to COVID-19 in Delhi. The deceased identified as Sonia Deuri hails from Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district and was employed at a private institution for the past 12 years. The girl was detected as COVID positive on Tuesday and breathed her last late Wednesday evening at the AIIMS trauma centre.
