China has been amassing troops and fortifying its presence along the LAC since April-May. Twenty soldiers were killed on June 15 in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh in violent clashes with China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops. Domestic petrol prices were increased by 9-11 paise per litre in the metros on Friday whereas diesel rates were left unchanged at existing levels. In Delhi, the price of petrol was raised to ₹ 81.94 from ₹ 81.83 per litre with effect from 6 am on August 28, while that of diesel was retained at ₹73.56 per litre, according to notifications from state-run Indian Oil Corporation.
