Suspension of flights arriving at Kolkata

The Kolkata airport authorities on Friday extended the suspension of flights arriving from six affected cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Nagpur and Ahmedabad) till July 31 as coronavirus cases continue to surge in the country and state. Bengal’s Covid-19 tally reached 38,011 on Friday after it reported a record single-day spike of 1,894 cases, while the toll jumped to 1,049 with 26 more deaths. The state now has 14,709 active Covid-19 cases, it said.

Aishwariya Rai Bachchan move from home quarantine to hospital

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been taken to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital to be treated for COVID-19, news agency ANI reports. The 46-year-old actress tested positive some days ago and was placed in isolation at the Bachchan residence Jalsa, which was sealed by the Brihanmumbai Corporation or BMC as were the three other bungalows owned by the family.Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan and husband Abhishek are also in Nanavati Hospital. Britannia Q1 pre-tax profit Rs 737 cr, revenue rises 26%

Foods company Britannia reported a stellar quarterly growth on Friday posting a profit before tax of Rs 737 crore for Q1FY20, a rise of 88 per cent when compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. The net profit for the biscuit maker grew 117 per cent to Rs 546 crore on YoY basis.
