Nepal’s coronavirus tally reached 18,241

Nepal's COVID-19 tally reached 18,241 with the detection of 147 new cases in the last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Thursday. Nepal has so far conducted 331,095 Polymerase chain reaction tests in 28 laboratories across the country. In the last 24 hours, 156 coronavirus patients have recovered, Health Ministry Spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said. In total, 12,840 people have recovered from the disease and 5,358 active cases are undergoing treatment. The US government has ordered Pfizer Inc and German biotech firm BioNTech SE to to produce and deliver 100 million doses of their COVID-19 vaccine candidate for $1.95 billion. Pfizer will deliver the doses if the covid vaccine receives emergency use authorization or licensure from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, after completing demonstration of safety and efficacy in a large Phase 3 clinical trial.
