Assam aims to foster diversity within the state

In a move to fostering diversity within the education sector, the Assam Government has decided to reserve three percent of seats for the Tea tribe and Adivasi communities. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu via X announced the initiative to reserve seats in the current teachers recruitment which is going to be held soon. According to the sources, there will be a three percent reservation for the communities within the existing 27 percent quote under OBC/MOBC under the Department of School Education, Assam.

At least 14 died at Dergaon bus accident, Assam

A bus collided with a truck in Dergaon, Assam which carried 45 passengers, the incident took place on 3 January early hours. According to sources, amongst the 45 passengers, 14 people died and 27 others were injured. The incident took place on the way when the bus was heading towards Tilinga Mandir, Tinsukia where the truck came in contact with the bus.
