Lakhimpur Kheri violence case: SIT files 5,000-page chargesheet, Union minister’s son Ashish Mishra named

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday, January 3, submitted a 5,000-page charge sheet in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. The police named Minister of State for Home Ajay Misra Teni’s son Ashish Misra as the prime accused in the case.

Eight people were killed on October 3 after violence erupted during a farmers’ protest, claiming the lives of farmers and BJP workers ahead of a visit to Lakhimpur by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Four of the dead were people in cars that were part of a convoy of BJP workers who had come to welcome the UP minister. The four others were farmers. The Special Investigation Team probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence incident has said that there was a planned conspiracy to murder protesting farmers.

According to reports, the SIT has named Union Minister of State (MoS) Ajay Misra Teni’s son Ashish as a prime accused in its 5,000-page chargesheet in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, which claimed eight lives.

The filing of the chargesheet comes almost three months since the incident took place in Tikunia village of Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh on October 3 last year.

Four farmers and a journalist were killed after they were allegedly mowed down by a vehicle. Three BJP workers were also killed in retaliation by an angry mob.

Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Misra’s son Ashish Misra had earlier submitted videos and affidavits of 10 people to prove that he was not inside the car that mowed down protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri.

A person name Dhirendra Shukla has been accused of hiding evidence. His SUV was behind Ashish Misra’s car on the day when four farmers were run over by cars during the rally in Lakhimpur Kheri. Dhirendra had concealed this fact.
