The Mizoram government has launched a mobile application to facilitate quick communication and information sharing in the event of a disaster. The ‘Khuarel’ app was unveiled by Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Lalnilawma in Aizawl. The programme was organized jointly by the Disaster Management & Rehabilitation (DM&R) Department and Buannel Geo Solutions & Services. In one of the largest anti-drug operations in the state, authorities in Mizoram have destroyed narcotics worth more than ₹465 crore in Champhai district, close to the India-Myanmar border.Officials said the seized drugs were destroyed on April 21 after receiving clearance from the district court. The narcotics had been recovered by police from different locations along the border between March and October 2025.The destroyed consignment included 35.85 kg of heroin valued at ₹71.7 crore, 490.89 kg of methamphetamine worth ₹392.71 crore, and 4.74 kg of alprazolam estimated at around ₹94.8 lakh.
