During the Ram Navami festival on Thursday, the roof of an ancient “bavdi” (a large well) located in a temple here fell, according to eyewitnesses. It is believed that almost 25 people may have fallen inside.
An official announced that a rescue effort has been started to save persons who are thought to be trapped.
According to a witness, the ancient bavdi’s ceiling collapsed as a result of the weight of the many people that had congregated there.
