Assam Doctors successfully treated rare dialysis-induced skin ailment

A team of doctors at the government-run Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Assam successfully treated a rare dialysis-induced skin ailment by performing kidney transplant on the patient. A report on the operation conducted on a 30-year-old woman patient in December last year by a team of doctors from the super-speciality unit of GMCH led by Dr Sasanka Kumar Barua recently appeared in Cureus, a US-based medical journal. 40 Bengal-bound exotic animals seized in Assam

The Assam police on Thursday, September 8, 2022 seized 40 exotic animals from two Delhi-registered SUVs that travelled from the Mizoram-Myanmar border and were bound for Siliguri in northern West Bengal. This was the biggest seizure of smuggled exotic animals in Assam. The animals included joeys or baby wallabies, chimpanzees, monkeys and tortoises. “The Rangiya police intercepted the vehicles following a tip-off and detained two people after finding the rare animals packed in cages.
