The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has opposed the Assam government's move to teach mathematics and science subjects through English medium from class III to class X in all government schools in Assam. All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Assam Sahitya Sabha opposed the move. The student body added, "Teaching science and mathematics in English will pose a threat to the Assamese language,".
