Assam registers new Fresh Covid Cases

Assam has registered 202 more people positive for the virus, raising the tally to 7,43,048, according to the reports. Along with it the death toll remained unchanged at 8,026. For now the northeastern state now has 2,987 active cases. While 7, 32, 033 patients have so far recovered from the disease.

NESO Resumes Protests against CAA Implementation

The North East Students’ Organization (NESO) – an apex students’ body resumes agitation against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in all state headquarters. "People need a permanent solution to the problem of illegal immigration," said Samujjal Bhattacharya, Principal Adviser, AASU. ‘The students’ union has demanded immediate cancellation. If no solution is found, the whole area will be like Tripura or possibly Arunachal Pradesh.

Assam CM Sarma announces 1 Lakh ‘minor’ criminal cases to be withdrawn

Himanta Biswa Sharma, Assam Chief Minister announced on Monday that one lakh "petty cases", including those filed for allegedly inflammatory social media posts, would be withdrawn.
