Picnic buses can only operate after fog clears, Assam

The Assam Government has issued SOP for picnic goers due to the recent tragic incident which took place in Dergaon. Assam CM directs, buses carrying passengers for picnic can only operate after the fog clears in the morning and must arrive before the fog clears in the evening. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "People should not start travelling for picnic so early in the morning. Today the state police have issued an SOP which states that buses can only operate after the fog clears in the morning and must arrive before the fog clears in the evening."

Assam aims to foster diversity within the state

In a move to fostering diversity within the education sector, the Assam Government has decided to reserve three percent of seats for the Tea tribe and Adivasi communities. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu via X announced the initiative to reserve seats in the current teachers recruitment which is going to be held soon. According to the sources, there will be a three percent reservation for the communities within the existing 27 percent quote under OBC/MOBC under the Department of School Education, Assam.

At least 14 died at Dergaon bus accident, Assam

A bus collided with a truck in Dergaon, Assam which carried 45 passengers, the incident took place on 3 January early hours. According to sources, amongst the 45 passengers, 14 people died and 27 others were injured. The incident took place on the way when the bus was heading towards Tilinga Mandir, Tinsukia where the truck came in contact with the bus. Police reported that the bus passengers were on their way to picnic and were about to reach their destination, a coal-laden truck coming from Margherita collided with the bus.

Assam farmers exports 5K lemons and flat beans

A team of 16 farmers has successfully exported 500kg of lablab or flat beans to the New Spitalfields market in London, from where farmers’ fresh products go to various European countries. To reports, along with flat beans from Sivasagar, farmers of Tinsukia District have also dispatched 5,000 lemons which are known as Kaji Nemu in Assam.
