Four inter-state robbers arrested in UP

Four out of seven inter-state dacoits were arrested in a police encounter near the Sarurpur canal. Five motorcycles, a two-wheeler and two 315 bore pistols along with four live and two empty cartridges were recovered from them, Superintendent of Police (City) Martand Prakash Singh said. The inter-state dacoits, Jitendra, Kuldeep, Kapil and Shiv Singh are from Rajasthan and Bholu, Bhola and Gopal are residents of Mathura, police said. The robbers opened fire and the police fired in self-defense, the report said.

The Himachal Pradesh unit of the Congress will stage a protest outside the sub-zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday.The protest is against the federal probe agency summoning Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi.  According to the information, Sonia Gandhi was questioned in a money-laundering probe link to the National Herald-Associated Journals Limited case for which protest will be staged outside the ED's Chhota Shimla office around noon.

Assam adds another 830 new COVID-19 cases

Assam recorded 830 new COVID-19 cases, the highest one-day spike since February 3, taking the tally to 7,32,492. According to a report, two deaths have occurred due to the infection – one each in Jorhat and Nalbari. The death toll stands at 8,008. Assam now has 5,243 active cases, with a total of 7,19,241 people having recovered from the disease so far. Kamrup Metropolitan District, which primarily comprises Guwahati city, reported 37 new covid cases, followed by Sonitpur (71) Baksa (84), and Dibrugarh (57).

Assam logs 755 COVID cases with 3 deaths

Assam reports 755 new COVID-19 cases and three more deaths; The overall number of Covid-19 cases in the state has risen to 7,31,662. New cases were detected from 7,121 samples tested with a positivity rate of 10.60 per cent per day. According to the report, Baxa district reported the highest number of 64 new cases, followed by Goalpara with 63 and Kamrup Metropolitan and Dibrugarh with 60 cases each. Cachar, Kamrup Metropolitan and Udalguri districts reported one death each, keeping the day's tally unchanged at three.

Andaman and Nicobar faces new Covid cases

Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported 10 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 10,330. According to the report, nine fresh patients have a history of travel due to which the infection was detected. There are now 59 active patients in the Union Territory and out of them 58 are under home quarantine and one has been admitted to the hospital. Himachal Pradesh landslide leaves 8 injured in Kangra

On Tuesday in a landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district eight people were injured. As per the report of Kangra District Emergency Operations Centre, at a construction site near a flour mill, a landslide occurred and the injured have been identified as Rajeev Kumar (19), Gaurav (20), Dev Narayan (40), Sahadev (21) and his brother Vasudev (30) and Jagat (42) — all from West Bengal — Neetu (24) from Uttar Pradesh and Vinay Kumar (44) from Kangra district, state disaster management director Sudesh Mokta said.
