E-ticketing bus service in Assam

Assam State Transport Corporation has launched an online bus e-ticketing service. The service was initially launched in Kamrup (Metropolitan) and Sonitpur districts in collaboration with Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON), said a notification issued by Rahul Chandra Das, Managing Director of ASTC. The software is designed for a pilot project from Guwahati to Tezpur via Nagaon and other routes will follow later. For more information, tickets are available at www.astcbus.com and passengers can contact the help desk or grievance redressal cell at astc2009@gmail.com. There is also a 24/7 toll-free help desk at 1800-345-3986 for passenger grievance redressal.

Bengal minister arrested over school jobs scam

West Bengal Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested on Saturday by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the probe into the alleged school job scam. Actor Salman Khan meets Mumbai police commissioner

On Friday Bollywood actor Salman Khan met with Vivek Phansalkar, Mumbai Police Commissioner at the latter's office in South Mumbai. According to reports, Khan also met Biswas Nangre Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order). Two wanted criminals have been arrested in separate cases of murder and abduction in Haryana's Bahadurgarh and Bhiwani. Accused Lokesh alias Gogi and Vijender alias Punji were arrested on Thursday. According to reports, the Rohtak police team received specific inputs that the district police and their associates from Jind, Gurugram and Hisa were roaming in the Bahadurgarh area with the intention of committing a criminal offense. Four inter-state robbers arrested in UP

Four out of seven inter-state dacoits were arrested in a police encounter near the Sarurpur canal. Five motorcycles, a two-wheeler and two 315 bore pistols along with four live and two empty cartridges were recovered from them, Superintendent of Police (City) Martand Prakash Singh said. The inter-state dacoits, Jitendra, Kuldeep, Kapil and Shiv Singh are from Rajasthan and Bholu, Bhola and Gopal are residents of Mathura, police said. The robbers opened fire and the police fired in self-defense, the report said.

Assam adds another 830 new COVID-19 cases

Assam recorded 830 new COVID-19 cases, the highest one-day spike since February 3, taking the tally to 7,32,492. According to a report, two deaths have occurred due to the infection – one each in Jorhat and Nalbari. The death toll stands at 8,008. Assam now has 5,243 active cases, with a total of 7,19,241 people having recovered from the disease so far. Kamrup Metropolitan District, which primarily comprises Guwahati city, reported 37 new covid cases, followed by Sonitpur (71) Baksa (84), and Dibrugarh (57).

Assam logs 755 COVID cases with 3 deaths

Assam reports 755 new COVID-19 cases and three more deaths; The overall number of Covid-19 cases in the state has risen to 7,31,662. New cases were detected from 7,121 samples tested with a positivity rate of 10.60 per cent per day. According to the report, Baxa district reported the highest number of 64 new cases, followed by Goalpara with 63 and Kamrup Metropolitan and Dibrugarh with 60 cases each. Cachar, Kamrup Metropolitan and Udalguri districts reported one death each, keeping the day's tally unchanged at three.

Odisha Police's Special Task Force has seized a leopard skin since 2020 from Information. Due to which a person has been arrested in Koraput district for trafficking in wildlife body parts.
